Childbirth Preparation Classes (aka Lamaze)
This class is designed to prepare you and your partner for childbirth and instructs you on relaxation techniques to facilitate delivery. You will cover anatomy and physiology of birth, pain control, positions, breathing and enjoy a tour of the birthing suite. Newly expectant parents can choose a one day intensive (8 hour) class or a 4 week series totaling 8 hours. Fee: $75 per couple.

Breastfeeding Education
Breastfeeding is natural but not instinctive. A certified lactation consultant helps to educate you in breastfeeding skills from birth through weaning. So no matter whether this is your first time breastfeeding, or whether you've breastfed before, or if you are unsure what to expect and have questions, our lactation consultants will help inform you. SMMC offers Nursing Mothers Support Services, which includes pump rental and purchasing program, a Nursing Mothers store, and a 24 hour "warm line" for support or questions at 283-7335. Free.

Breastfeeding Support Group
In this setting, breastfeeding mothers explore positive options about breastfeeding, resulting in a pleasant and satisfying breastfeeding experience. A breastfeeding support group is a wonderful way to exchange information and experiences. Fridays, 10-11am. Free.

Infant Safety and CPR classes
These classes at SMMC provide a non-certificate course by the American Heart Association to family & friends, as well as basic home safety for your babies as they grow. Fee: $25 per couple or $15 per person.

Sibling Class
Introduce your children, age 3 or older, to their new role as a sibling to a newborn. They'll visit our birthing floor, watching a video, role play and talk about becoming new big brothers and sisters. Free.

Car Seat Information
This class is designed to help parents/grandparents understand the importance of their child's car seat - So many gadgets and what to dos! Free.

Prenatal Fitness Class
6-week series. Get fit while you're expecting. We'll help you tone up body, mind & soul. Class will end with a Yoga inspired relaxation. Fee: $5. Class size is limited - please call 283-7350 to register.

Perinatal Depression Support Group: For pregnant and postpartum women
The purpose of this group is to offer support and healing to women suffering from postpartum depression and related mood disorders during pregnancy and the first year after giving birth. We offer a safe and compassionate environment in which women can discuss their experiences and the challenges of motherhood. Facilitated by our Birthing Suite Nurses and an SMMC Social Worker, information and community resources will be provided. Pre-registration is preferred; Babies are always welcome. Postpartum Depression Telephone Support: Providing support and encouragement to women at risk or experiencing postpartum depression
Additionally, SMMC provides free support by phone for women experiencing emotional difficulties during pregnancy or postpartum. We will listen, encourage and provide community resources.
